The best way to make your dreams come true is to wake up!

This quote is attributed to Paul Valery,  the French philosopher born in 1871.

Like all things that stand the test of time it is as relevant today as it was when he first uttered it.

If anything our capacity and ability to dream has increased over the last century. Gone are the rigid business structures, the idea of a “job for life” is disappearing and we are constantly told we can be anything we want to be.

We can dream big in today’s world and there is a chance that we can realise our ambitions with the majority of the population a mere mouse click away.

There is one important caveat to being able to make our dreams a reality and Paul Valery was on to this. If we want our dreams to come true then we need to wake up and do something about it.

How conscious are we to the opportunities that exist to create a future we want to live in?  Often we can be too busy, too tired, or not in the right frame of mind and despite our best intents it can be too easy to fall into a world of “could of…”, “should of…” or “would of…”.

Waking up to the opportunities and potential that surround us is the first step,  the next step requires us to  get off our backsides and do something. Talking a good game, having the best intent and even developing a wonderful plan are all worthless unless you take action.
